Beginning
with the December 2008 Commencement,
Austin Peay State University will hold two
ceremonies for each of the spring and fall commencements
in the Dunn Center.
At 10 a.m., Friday,
Dec. 12, students slated to earn degrees from the College of
Arts and Letters, the College of Science and Mathematics and
the School of Technology and Public Management will
participate in commencement. At 3 p.m.,
the candidates for degrees from the College of Professional
Programs and Social Sciences will have commencement
exercises.
Students who have filed for graduate degrees will
participate in the commencement ceremony for the college
that houses the academic program. For instance, if a student
is on schedule to receive a Master of Arts in communication
arts, the student would participate in the 10 a.m. ceremony
with the College of Arts and Letters because the APSU
Department of Communication belongs to that college.
Having dual commencements is a
significant milestone for APSU and is a result of the
continued increase in our number of graduates over the past
few years. This growth has made it very challenging to
accommodate properly all of the degree candidates, faculty
and guests in a single ceremony.
Students who have applied to graduate in December will
receive updates from the Registrar’s Office. These updates
will be sent by mail and e-mail to confirm ceremony times
based upon the degree the student will be earning.
