In partnership with the APSU theatre program, the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts sponsors:
- Center Stage
- Artists-in-Residence, who join the APSU family for a brief period and share their expertise with students, faculty, and the community.
- Visiting Artists, who present lectures, question-and-answer sessions, and workshops.
The APSU Theatre Program
Each year, the APSU theatre program produces four mainstage productions, several one-act plays, and a summer workshop. In front of the footlights and behind the scenes, students gain valuable experience. Working with talented and knowledgeable faculty, APSU theatre students expand their performance, creativity, and professional development skills through courses ranging from playwriting to radio production.
From ceramics to sculpture, you’ll find all kinds of art – and artists – at Austin Peay.
The Nashville Scene has hailed the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts for “attracting heavyweight poets for years…everyone from Gwendolyn Brooks and Allen Ginsberg to Galway Kinnell and Eavan Boland.”
Though you won’t see them on stage, visiting artists and artists-in-residence have a visible impact on APSU theatre and dance students.
The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts sponsors the annual Clarksville Community Concert Series, which includes lectures and performances by renowned musicians such as classical guitarist Philip Hii, the American Brass Quintet and Grammy Award-winning ensemble Chanticleer.
