Go Sooner!

If you have completed your sophomore year in high school, there are two ways you can start earning college credit at Austin Peay. Through dual enrollment, you take classes that count towards both college and high school credit. Through joint enrollment, you take classes for college credit only.

Choosing Courses

Most classes are available to you, although we recommend that you consider classes that fulfill core requirements. When enrolling for dual credit, your school counselor also will need to certify that the classes will fulfill high school requirements or electives. You may enroll in 1000- or 2000-level courses but should meet any course prerequisites. To enroll in upper division courses, you will need to meet the course prerequisites and obtain department chair permission.

Many online classes are also available, but you should work with your counselor to determine if the demands of an online class are a good fit for you.

The APSU Department of Mathematics has developed a suggested list of math courses for dual/joint students which includes details on prerequisites.

You can view APSU's course catalog for course descriptions online and also class schedules for upcoming terms. Go to AP Self Service and select "Class Schedule" (available on screen or in a printable format) or "Course Catalog". You will be asked to select a specific term, then choose a subject area and other details. To see online classes in the class schedule section, choose a subject and select "WEB-Asynchronous" from the instructional method drop-down box. All online classes are listed with a "W" section number.

Grants & Scholarships

Students are eligible to apply for the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant Program which currently provides $100 per semester credit, up to $300 per term and $600 per academic year. In addition, Austin Peay offers a needs based scholarship for dual enrolled students.
