Welcome to High School Upward Bound

The Upward Bound Program is a federally funded grant program that provides services to low income, first generation students that show potential for post-secondary achievement. The program originated in 1965 in the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) then was transferred to the Office of Education in the Education Amendment of 1968.

The Austin Peay State University Upward Bound Program was funded to begin in September, 1989. The project provides basic skills and motivational development, tutoring, counseling, and post-secondary orientation to 75 qualified high school students in Montgomery County.
