Program Modification Overview

There are three types of academic program modifications: Name/title changes to existing program, more substantive modifications to the content or delivery of an existing program, including the creation of new concentration and minors and non-substantive modifications to programs. A brief description follows:

  1. Program Name/Title Change
    The first type includes changes to the name or title of an existing academic program (major degree, minor, concentrationt or certification) and/or to an academic unit (department, college, school, center, etc.). Please review and reference the process and estimated timeline provided while completing name and title changes

  2. Program Modifications(s) and Creation of New Concentrations and Minors
    The second type includes substantive academic program changes and the creation of new concentrations and minors, requiring THEC notification and approval. Please review and reference the process and estimated timeline provided while completing these types of program modifications.

  3. Non-Substantive Program Modification(s)
    Non-substantive program modification(s) consist of any changes to programs that are under 18 SCH for undergraduate programs and 9 SCH for graduate programs. Please complete the appropriate Curriculog Program Modification form (Form 6 for Graduate level and Form 10 for Undergraduate level) and submit through Curriculog. Once you have completed and launched the form, it will move on for review by your Department Curriculum Committee, College Curriculum Committee, Graduate & Research Council (if applicable), Teacher Education Council (if applicable) and the University Curriculum Committee.
