What does it mean to study in theatre and/or dance?

Students who choose to study in the performing arts (theatre and dance) have several programs of study from which to choose.  APSU offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Fine Arts in Theatre/Dance with  Concentrations in Acting/Directing, Theatre Design, Musical Theatre, and Dance.  The curriculum for each area is diverse and challenging.  Coursework includes skill-based classes as well as theoretical and research courses.  Our Theatre minor and Dance minor curriculum covers a breadth of subjects and methods.

Why is Austin Peay State University a good place to study theatre and/or dance?

What makes Austin Peay’s Theatre and Dance program unique is the commitment we have to the personal attention to each student and also to his or her professional growth for career building beyond time spent at the university.  We keep class sizes capped so that the student-to-faculty ratio is relatively low, and we optimize student main stage opportunities every year.  Moreover, we give our students regional exposure by actively participating in the major theatre and dance conferences around the country; thus, our students are afforded many opportunities to succeed as theatre and dance practitioners, educators, and as other professionals in the fields they choose to pursue after graduation.
