Academic Focus

Austin Peay now requires all students without a declared major to select Academic Focus (Pathways) as their major (previously called Undeclared). Our expertise is focused on the General Education Core requirements and working with students to identify potential majors during their freshmen year. Once a student has earned 30 credit hours, they will need to declare their major to a Bachelor's degree or change their major to the Associates of Science in Liberal Arts.

Unlike an academic department, you will not be assigned a specific advisor, but will be assigned to the office and meet with the first available advisor or the advisor of your choice in the department. Each semester a professional advisor will meet with you to address possible majors, degree requirements, and courses for the coming semester. However, do not hesitate to contact our center anytime an issue arises.

Advising appointments are required during pre-registration periods, and strongly encouraged at all times. You should call at least a week in advance to schedule your appointment. Appointments may be made by calling us at (931) 221-6643 or stopping by the office at 201 Miller.
