Our programs prepare people in the region for employment opportunities with industrial employers. Likewise, we serve these employers both by preparing graduates for initial employment and by offering educational opportunities for current employees needed for advancement.

Engineering Technology

The Engineering Technology Department offers undergraduate degrees in Engineering Technology.  We offer a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BS) in four different concentrations: Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Mechitronics. Three of the concentrations, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Mechanical are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.  The combination of our technological major and Austin Peay's liberal arts core is a unique strength of our program. The core helps students develop communication skills, critical thinking abilities and values for responsible living.

In addition to the Bachelor Degree programs in Engineering Technology, we offer two Associates of Applied Science degrees in Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology and Mechatronics Engineering Technology. We also offer a minor in Engineering Technology. This is strongly recommended for students in Business, Technical Writing, and other areas where graduates may join technical enterprises.

We offer courses from our facilities at both the APSU Clarksville (downtown) campus and Ft. Campbell campus on Ft. Campbell Army Base.  We offer daytime and evening courses to accommodate students who work while attending Austin Peay.  We encourage students to take internships or other job opportunities in industry so they can get practical experience while completing their degrees.

Department Mission

The Engineering Technology Department motivates students to think creatively, to acquire analytical  and technical skills and to excel through its excellent teaching and service in an innovative learning environment.

The Engineering Technology program provides a seamless transition for students that have completed associate degree requirements to a baccalaureate degree in engineering technology.  A major part of our mission is to serve the military community at Ft. Campbell with programs that meet the needs and interests of military personnel, family, retirees and civilians from the community.

Our programs prepare people in the region for employment opportunities with industrial employers. Likewise, we serve these employers both by preparing graduates for initial employment and by offering educational opportunities for current employees needed for advancement.
