Installing Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh Computers

  1. You do not need to complete this procedure if Norton Antivirus for Macintosh computers is already installed.  You can check by following this procedure.

  2. Open an internet browser and navigate to http://www.apsu.edu/helpdesk/nav/macnav.htm

  3. Fill in the information requested.
    A. Select Building - Please select which building your office is located in.
    B.  APSU TAG - Every computer has a blue and silver, "Property of Austin Peay State University" tag located somewhere on it.  Please type the number associated with this tag in this field.
    C. Computer Name - Name associated with each computer.  Click here for an in-depth explanation.
    D. User Name - This is your user name that you use to log in to the network.  It is usually your last name and first initial (i.e., doej for Jane Doe).

  4. After Submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation that a ticket is being logged at the Help Desk so that a Technician can come install Norton Antivirus for Macintosh computers.

  5. More than likely, you will receive notice that a ticket has been logged from the Help Desk.  This email will contain your ticket number to reference if you request any additional information. 

  6. The technician will come to your office to install Norton Antivirus for Macintosh computers.  

Once the technician has installed the antivirus software, you have completed the installation process for Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh computers.  You will receive new virus definition files from the internet by being connected to the network
