Aquatic Lake Bed

Lake Bottom communities are restricted to moderate to deep waters of Reelfoot Lake and Sunk Lake where the water is too deep to support swamp or emergent marsh vegetation. In these situations the bed of the lake supports several submerged aquatic plants. Some species, such as Lemna trisulca, may be suspended in the water column whereas the majority are rooted submerged aquatics. Floating aquatics may partially cover the surface.
