Graduate Basic Admission Requirements for International Students

Basic admission requirements apply to ALL graduate programs. Each program may have additional departmental requirements. See Graduate Program Admission Requirements to find more information on specific program requirements.

International Student Application/Admission Checklist

  1. Completed Graduate Application 

  2. U.S. $50.00 Application Fee (in bank draft or US check payable to Austin Peay State University). 

  3. Copy of passport biographical page and copy of passport information page for any dependents (spouse, child).

  4. Official copies of all transcripts, certificates, diplomas, and degrees must be translated and evaluated and sent directly to Graduate Admissions. (See list of approved agencies.)

  5. Official TOEFL scores (minimum iBT score of 61), sent directly from the testing center -OR- Official IELTS scores (minimum score of 5.5), sent directly from the testing center.

    • Students from the following countries are not required to submit English proficiency scores: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Belize, Botswana, British Islands, Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

  6. Proof of Financial Support Form with proof of resources (US $31,332*- $33,312* for 9 months or US $45,141* - $48,111* for 12 months. *All fees are subject to change. For dependents to be included on the I-20AB, add $3,500 per academic year for your spouse and $2,000 per academic year for each child. Spouses of F-1 visa holders are not permitted to work under any circumstances. Spouses of J-1 visa holders may obtain permission to work only for his or her and the children’s support.

  7. Admission materials required for your intended graduate program.

  8. If you are a transfer student from another U.S. college, university, or other school, you must have the college, university, or other schools send us a photocopy of your I-20 form/DS-2019 form, I-94 form, US Visa page, and passport information page along with the International Student Transfer Verification Form
