APSU hosts College Art and Design Day on Feb. 10
The Austin Peay State University Department of Art + Design is hosting a College Art and Design Day on Saturday, Feb. 10, in the new Art + Design Building. High school art students, as well as their art teachers and parents, are invited to participate in this daylong experience of college programs and careers in the visual arts.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by a tour of the new Art + Design Building. At 10 a.m., students will have a choice of creative workshops designed to give high school students a college-level studio experience. While the students work in the studio, art faculty will meet with parents and teachers about the program, the value of an education in art, scholarships, the Tennessee Promise and any other topics of interest.
After a short lunch break, students will have their choice of a second workshop, followed by a talk by Professor Patrick Gosnell about careers in art. College Art and Design Day will finish with a Portfolio Review. Faculty members will be on hand to review the work of individual high school students and to discuss various ways to prepare a college entrance portfolio.
