On Thursday, Oct. 25, the APSU Department of Theatre and Dance, along with artistic director Kevin Bradley Loveland Jr., will present “Fall into Dance.” The production will run through Sunday, Oct. 28.

The show is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in the Trahern Theatre.

“Fall into Dance” will feature faculty and student choreography with a wide variety of music and styles that will undoubtedly entertain everyone in the audience. All of our innovative choreographers consistently prove that there are always new movement avenues to explore.

The first act will feature faculty choreographers, including Mary Elizabeth Tinervin, Kevin Bradley Loveland Jr., Laquimah VanDunk, Elaine Husted and King Alvarado.

The second act will feature the Capstone Project of Claire Estes: senior BFA student, CECA scholarship recipient and member of Alpha Psi Omega. One of the pieces of her act, “Entity,” premiered in last year’s 12th Annual Spring Dance Concert and left a haunting image of the effects of repeated abuse.

Estes has choreographed three additional pieces on the subject, creating a poignant and evocative collection of four works, “Part Two,” “To Develop Balance,” “Entity” and “Parasitism.”

“By creating these works, I hope to bring awareness to mental, physical and emotional abuse,” she said. “Throughout my process, my dancers and I have come to realize that lovers, friends and even family members can be abusive and toxic to our well-being. I hope to relay the important message behind each type of toxicity through my choreography and performance.”

Tickets for “Fall into Dance” can be purchased online at the Theatre and Dance webpage or preceding the performance.
