Facilities
The
Austin Peay State University campus is a 200 acre
suburban setting. The School of Nursing is located in
the McCord building on the southwest side of campus.
School of Nursing resources include a computer lab with
a variety of computer assisted instructional programs
and video discs, a nursing skills lab, and various
audiovisual materials.
Clinical
Experiences
Student clinicals are offered in a variety of
settings, including community based and acute care
sites, and involve many different types of client
populations. Clinicals sites are selected to provide the
student with an optimum experience, which may
necessitate a drive to clinical sites in surrounding
cities and counties, such as in Nashville. The purpose
of clinical experiences is to prepare the student to
practice as a beginning and future oriented professional
nurse, in their choice of a variety of different kinds
of health care facilities. Nursing students are
responsible for providing their own transportation to
each clinical site.
