OUR Purpose

Who are we?

We are here to connect APSU students with opportunities to conduct research and creative activity. From the application process, to pursuing funding and presenting your findings, we are here to help you every step of the way. You can even apply to receive OUR funding for your project!

What is research and creative activity?

When you hear the word “research,” you might think of lab coats and microscopes but that is not the only kind of research!  Research and creative activity are common in ALL fields of study. Here are a few examples of projects we have supported:

ALL research and creative activity begins with a question. We define undergradaute research as: "...a scholarly activity conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline." (adapted from National Council of Uundergraduate Research)

How will you benefit?

Your research project will help you connect with faculty, become immersed in a field of study and gain confidence in your abilities. As you near graduation, you will find it draws a lot of attention from employers and graduate schools.

Interested?

If you are ready to ask questions, explore solutions, and find answers,
the OFFICE OF UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH can help you make it happen.

Research is not just for professors and graduate students.  Click on the For Students tab on the left menu to learn more!

"Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose."

Meet Austin Ward

“I want to be a teacher and that’s what I’m training to be, but I want to make sure that I’m also doing things outside of the classroom,” Ward said. “Now that I’ve been to Washington, I’ve really become inspired by what I saw and I want to fight that fight.”

Illa sunt similia: hebes acies est cuipiam oculorum, corpore alius senescit; Quid turpius quam sapientis vitam ex insipientium sermone pendere? Ita multo sanguine profuso in laetitia et in victoria est mortuus. At ille non pertimuit saneque fidenter: Istis quidem ipsis verbis, inquit;
