The Foy Pool offers several different choices when it comes to swim lessons. We offer American Red Cross group lessons from the Parent & Child level through Learn-to-Swim level 4. After level 4, we encourage swimmers to join our Fitness Swimmer Camp where swimmers enhance their technique and learn competitive swimming skills. APSU is proud to also be able to offer private and semi-private swim lessons for those wanting a more tailored, one-on-one instruction.
Please note: Group and private swim lesson participants are welcome to swim outside their swim lessons, during our open swim hours, with the purchase of a day or season pass.
APSU is proud to offer American Red Cross Swim Lessons!
NOTE: All American Red Cross swim lesson courses include instruction in basic water safety. In good weather, these lessons are incorporated into the outdoor swim lesson. However, in the case of inclement weather, the water safety portion of the curriculum is taught inside using videos and instructor examples with class participation. This option is ONLY used in the case of inclement weather and is only done once per session.
We offer four of the six the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim (LTS) levels, Preschool Aquatics, Parent & Child Aquatics, and Adult levels of swimming instruction that teach participants how to swim skillfully and safely. All Learn-to-Swim courses include instruction in basic water safety and survival skills.

Designed for ages 5-17 who have passed the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 3/4 course, APSU’s Fitness Swimmer Camp is structured similarly to a swim team without the full season commitment. Students enrolled in the Fitness Swimmer Camp will work on proper technique in the four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), improve their endurance, learn and prefect flip turns and competitive open turns, and gain lifelong swimming skills that promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Each week there will be four 45-minute practices that swimmers can choose to attend. Swimmers are not required to attend every practice, but are welcome to attend all of them if they choose. APSU’s Fitness Swimmer Camp is taught by American Red Cross certified instructors with competitive swimming experience.
