MAT - Miller Analogies Test
The MAT is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. Performance on the MAT is designed to reflect candidates’ analytical thinking, an ability that is critical for success in both graduate school and professional life. Some graduate schools accept MAT scores to meet application criteria. Please contact the graduate department at the school of your choice regarding application and admission requirements.
Important Policies / Updates
The Testing Center strongly recommends that candidates visit the MAT website to obtain the most current information regarding all testing policies and procedures. An electronic version of the Candidate Information Booklet for 2016-2017 is available on the MAT website.
The Austin Peay Testing Center only administers the computer-based version of the MAT.
Personal items are not allowed in the testing room. See Prohibited Items below.
Fees / Payment Method / Remittance Policy
Payment Method: Cash, check, money order, or credit cards (including Visa, Master Card, or American Express).
Please make all checks and money orders payable to Austin Peay State University. APSU students must write their name and APSU student I.D. number on all checks and money orders.
Remittance Policy: Payment is due on the day of the exam. Please report to the Ellington Building, Room 207 at least fifteen minutes prior to your testing time to obtain a payment invoice.

Test Dates / Times

On the day of the test, report to the Ellington Building, Room 207 at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled test time.
During peak times on campus, parking availability in the area around the Ellington Building can be limited. Parking passes are required for visitors on campus. You may request a parking pass in advance by calling the Testing Center at (931) 221-6269 or sending an e-mail to email@example.com. If you are unfamiliar with campus, please click on the following link to access a Campus Map. Please allow adequate time to acquire parking prior to your scheduled test time.
Examinees must present two valid (i.e., unexpired) forms of identification. The primary form of I.D. must be government-issued and contain both a photograph and a signature. The second form of I.D. is not required to have a photograph or signature.
Acceptable primary forms of I.D. (government-issued with photograph and signature) include: Driver’s license, or other Government-issued identification card or passport.
Acceptable secondary forms of I.D. (photograph and signature not required) include: Credit card, library card, or utility bill with name and address appearing exactly the same as on your primary form of I.D.
Pearson strongly recommends that you bring several forms of I.D. with you in case the Test Administrator questions one of them.

Permissible Test Aids
Scratch paper and pencils will be provided by the Testing Center.
The following items are prohibited in the Testing Center: books, papers and notes, rulers, non-No. 2 pencils and pens, hats with bills/brims, any electronic devices, including: calculators, watch calculators, cameras, cell phones, headphones, pagers, PDAs, recording devices, food, beverages, and purses, backpacks, briefcases, etc.
If you are found to have violated this policy in any way, your MAT scores will be cancelled.

Results / Score Reports / Transcripts
A Preliminary Score Report is available upon completion of the computer-based MAT.
A Personal Score Report is mailed to examinees approximately 10 to 15 business days after testing is completed.
An Official Score Report is sent to the college or university selected by the examinee on the test day.
The high volume of mail during holiday seasons may delay the delivery of Score Reports. Examinees should accommodate for any potential delay when selecting a test date.
Additional Transcripts and Personal Score Reports can be requested for a fee from Pearson Education, Inc. Please visit the MAT website for request forms.
The Testing Center has a limited number of seats available for testing. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please contact the Testing Center as soon as possible so your reserved seat can be made available for other examinees.
To register to retake the MAT, please call the Testing Center at (931) 221-6269. It is recommended that candidates review the Test Schedule prior to calling the Testing Center.
All examinees who retake the MAT must pay all appropriate test fees.

The Testing Center does not offer the paper-based version of the MAT. If you would like to take the paper-based MAT, please visit the MAT website for more information.
Please dress in layers so that you can adjust to any room temperature.
Food and drink are not allowed in the Testing Center.
Visitors are not permitted in the testing room while testing is in progress.
Children are not allowed in the testing room at any time.
