Your first step is applying for admission to Austin Peay State University which is free for uniformed personnel. Note that there are separate applications for the University and the pre-licensure BSN program, both must be completed to be considered for admission to the pre-licensure BSN program.

The Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell (please email APFortCampbellCenter@apsu.edu) advisors will assist with understanding military benefits, applying to APSU (free for uniformed personnel), the Tuition Assistance (TA) Memo (if needed), and ensuring transcripts have transferred into the University (Degree Works tracking system) correctly and requesting substitutions for classes that did not transfer in automatically.

Please read the following webpages to gain a better understanding of the APSU nursing program.

Please review the sample four-year plan for completing the BSN degree. All courses in year one and through the first semester of year two are mandatory before enrolling in nursing major courses in the second semester of your second year.

Please see the Office of the Registrar's Transfer webpage to see how your current classes transfer to APSU. If you have additional transfer questions, please get in touch with the Registrar’s Office and speak to a Transcript Evaluator (931) 221-7380 or (931) 221 6447.

The pre-licensure BSN admission process is a “blind” ranking process meaning that applicants are ranked on GPA (pre-requisites or pre-nursing core completed) and TEAS exam scores. We do not ask students for interviews or letters of recommendation. Entrance to the APSU nursing program occurs twice a year. Please see the BSN application process and application dates on the BSN Application webpage.

Consideration for admission to the pre-licensure BSN program requires the TEAS exam to be completed and included with all applications. For information on the TEAS testing dates, don't hesitate to contact the APSU Testing Center. In addition, your TEAS profile page must include your name, date of testing, composite score, and breakdown of all four sections. You may schedule your TEAS exam at the APSU Testing Center. You are welcome to test outside of APSU; please contact ATI testing for information on other testing sites. Please know that you may test at APSU every 90 days, and a minimum TEAS score of 68 is required. For more information, please see our TEAS Testing webpage

To be competitive enough for possible entrance into the Nursing program, a student’s GPA should be 3.35 or higher with a 75 or higher TEAS result. Competitive scores are dependent on that admission cycle and may change accordingly. The admission ranking formula is GPA*50 + TEAS composite score.

Please know that nursing milestones (guidelines) are in place for students seeking a BSN degree. Please see the pre-licensure Admission Criteria webpage for more information and read the milestones to determine if you qualify.

Official evaluation of transfer credit is processed by the Office of the Registrar, in conjunction with the appropriate academic department. APSU awards credit for course work completed at regionally accredited institutions, select non-traditional credit, such as military credit, and upon appropriate approvals, credit earned at a non-regionally accredited institution. Please submit official copies of your transcripts to the Office of Admissions with your APSU application.

Upon receipt of official transcripts in the Office of the Registrar, transcript evaluations are completed within 7 – 10 business days. Please note that transcripts must be sent to the Office of Admissions and they will forward them to the Office of the Registrar once they have marked them received for your admissions file.

Pre-licensure Admission Criteria

Apply for the pre-licensure BSN program

Unconditional letters of acceptance are written after the application cycle is closed, all prerequisites are completed, grades are received, students are ranked, and your ranking score is competitive enough to be accepted to the pre-licensure BSN program. This process may not align with the AECP Board meetings.

Please note that if you are an AMEDD applicant who also qualifies for Direct Admit, the guidelines for the Unconditional Letter of Acceptance must still be followed. Direct Admit students are conditionally admitted which differs from the AECP Board requirement for an Unconditional Letter of Acceptance.
