I grew up in Iowa, did my undergraduate degree in Psychology (minoring in Criminal Justice Studies) at Iowa State University, then moved to Florida for graduate school. I attended the University of Florida for both my MA and PhD in Criminology, Law and Society (minoring in Psychology as well). So, you can probably tell, I've always been interested in the application of psychological principles to the legal system – how those two fields might intertwine themselves and help explain each other a bit better. My research is primarily in decision-making and bias (the psychological principles) found in wrongful convictions and juries and jurors (the legal system part). After graduating with my doctorate, I taught for a few years in Rochester, New York at The College at Brockport, State University of New York (SUNY) before joining Austin Peay in the Fall of 2019.
