VA Education Benefits
Our Mission
The Office of Veterans Education Benefits supports the University’s mission, vision and strategic plan goals. We follow the Principles of Excellence established by Presidential Executive Order 13607, Isakson and Roe Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020, Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act (Forever GI Bill®), and other federal policies and regulations. We provide access to federal, state, university and other types of financial resources to assist students in their enrollment, retention and graduation. We strive to effectively communicate, counsel and ensure these resources are delivered in a timely manner. This mission will be accomplished by:
• Promote enrollment and persistence through timely delivery of VA education benefits
and VA Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E);
• Provide student support through counseling, outreach, and communication;
• Monitor academic progress and collaborate with student support offices;
• Deliver information on possible federal and university debt;
• Support campus relationships with faculty, staff and students;
• Create a positive office culture that is empathetic to student needs through
training and other professional opportunities;
• Encourage relationships with outside federal and state entities impacting student
enrollment and success such as VA, Tennessee Higher Education Commission-Veterans
Education, and Tennessee Board of Regents.
