Topic: AV equipment usage
Description: The presenters will discuss how to properly use the AV equipment located in each classroom on campus.
Topic: Accessibility workshop
Description: The presenters will discuss accessibility beyond creating a syllabus and cover topics related to:
- Rules/guidelines on accessibility
- Universal design considerations & why accessibility is important
- How to make an accessible syllabus
- Accessibility checks in Word, PPT, Adobe
- Resources available for faculty
Topic: Student success
Description: The presenters will discuss student success initiatives and the role faculty play in student success.
Topic: Words of advice from the 2019/2020 First Year Faculty program facilitator
Description: The 2019/2020 facilitator will field questions from the group and offer advice for the new cohort of faculty.
Topic: Plagiarism
Description: The presenters will discuss how to identify plagiarism, the tools that can be used, the faculty reporting responsibility, and the resources located on campus.
Topic: Work/life balance panel
Description: Four current faculty members will share their experiences with the RTP process and discuss their individual struggles and strategies to manage the work/life balance.
Topic: Community discussion
Description: The presenters will discuss the Clarksville community and Chamber of Commerce, our surrounding neighborhoods, areas to buy a house, areas to rent, and discuss APSU's role in the community.
Topic: A group discussion will be held by the program facilitator.
Topic: HR check in
Description: The presenter will discuss employee benefits, field any questions related to insurance/retirement, and discuss any relevant policies (e.g. parental leave policy).
Topic: RTP policy
Description: The presenters will discuss the RTP process and policy. Participants will have time to ask questions about the process and will view examples of dossiers created in the past.
Topic: D2L workshop
Description: The presenters will discuss some of the tools that can be used within D2L to include:
- Discussion boards
- Creating quizzes
- Using dropbox
- Examity and Honorlock
- Yuja
- Copying courses/importing
- Zoom

Topic: Pedagogy workshop
Description: The presenters will provide information related to creating an assessment and a rubric.
Topic: Office of Equity, Access, and Inclusion and the AAEC
Description: The presenters will discuss the role of the Office of Equity, Access, and Inclusion and the African American Employee Council. The presenters may also discuss the efforts being made to recruit and retain a diverse faculty/staff and discuss the importance of the AAEC.
Topic: Office of Research and Sponsored Programs
Description: The presenters will discuss how to navigate Pivot, pre/post-award process, and internal grant opportunities offered by the office.
Topic: Looking ahead to year 2
Description: The presenter will discuss how to prepare and what to expect in the years following the first year as a faculty member, as well as discuss support for research, teaching, and service.
Topic: Information about the different Centers on campus
Description: The Directors from the African American Cultural Center, the Military Student Center, and the Hispanic Cultural Center will discuss the role that their Centers have on campus.
Topic: Student services
Description: The presenters will provide information related to student health services, student and faculty mental health, and student organizations that are offered on campus.
Topic: Program review and University accreditation
Description: The presenters will discuss program reviews and University accreditation, why they
are important, and what role faculty have for each.
Topic: Advising and the role of faculty
Description: The presenters will talk about the OneStop advising page, reviewing transcripts, Degree Works, and some common forms that are necessary for faculty to complete for advisees.
Topic: Pedagogy workshop
Description: The presenter will provide information on teaching skills and techniques.
Topic: Faculty Senate
Description: The presenters will discuss the role that Faculty Senate has on campus and discuss different grant opportunities offered by Faculty Senate.
Topic: Advanced D2L workshop
Description: The presenters will discuss advanced features of D2L or additional tools offered through Distance Education.
