Each academic college has an assigned librarian to assist with resources for facutly and students. A full list of library staff can be found on the website at http://library.apsu.edu/about/personnel

All faculty (including adjuncts) can check out the following items:

  • General collection books and government publications for up to 6 months
  • Audiovisual materials for up to 3 weeks

A proxy can be designated to check out materials for you - set this up at the Library Access Assistance Desk by presenting APSU ID cards for you and your proxy.

The library offers many online resources. Search the Austin Online Library Catalogue at the link shown below to find materials available. There are also Lib Guides available with helpful resources and materials for course planning and instruction. Also available online are periodicals such as journals and magazines. If you are unable to find what you are looking for in our extensive library catalogue, you can request an Interlibrary Loan by clicking on the link shown below.

You can also request that items be added to the catalogue if they are needed for instruction. You can send requests for books and media to your library liaison. Make sure you include as much information as possible in your request such as title, author, publisher, date of publication, and ISBN. You can also request that the library add new journal and online database subscriptions. However, note that due to the ongoing nature of subscription expenditures, funding may not always be available.

Each academic department or program has a librarian assigned to them. These librarians are your point of contact for all things library related. Services and resources available through the Library Liaison Program include:

  • Contact person for library information and collection development requests
  • Stay informed of new or revised library resources
  • Liaisons will participate in departmental or individual meetings to discuss library resource needs, demonstrate online resources, and answer questions.
  • Assist with incorporating library resources in the development of assignments

Find your department's Library Liaison at http://library.apsu.edu/about/liaisons

Your library liaison can also be added to your online course as an embedded librarian, meaning that they will be added to your online D2L course and able to provide assistance to your students. Some instructors will set up a library discussion board in their online class where students can ask questions about course assignments related to the library. Your embedded librarian can monitor that discussion board and answer these questions for your students. This is a helpful tool to enrich instruction for both you and your students. To set this up, simply contact your library liaison! To find out who your liaison is, visit the library website listed on this slide.

Library Instruction

  • All students are introduced to the library resources via APSU 1000, the first-year experience course.
  • In-class or online presentations available for locating, interpreting, and using library resources can be tailored specifically for your courses and assignments.
