Registration Information

General Requirements

Professional and Workforce Development courses at APSU are non-credit, unlike degree-seeking, for-credit programs. A high school diploma may not be required, but an age requirement may apply. An application for admission to APSU is not necessary, but registration through the Professional and Workforce Development Center is mandatory before attending classes. Various registration methods are available depending on the course type, and early registration is strongly encouraged since most courses fill quickly. Registration is complete, and class placement is secured only when payment is received. Many classes have limited enrollment and follow a first-come, first-served policy.

Age Requirements

Our courses are designed for adult learners, with a minimum age of 18. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. Students aged 15 and older may request to attend a class if accompanied by a registered parent. For details, contact us at 931-221-7816.

Discount Information

APSU faculty and staff may qualify for discounts on selected courses marked "Early registration discount applies." Eligible faculty and staff will receive the discount regardless of the registration date. For discounted prices or to register, contact us at 931-221-7816. To receive the discount online, select APSU Faculty/Staff as your affiliation and enter your A# when creating an account at https://signmeup.apsu.edu. If you already have an account, login, update your profile to reflect your APSU affiliation, and select the APSU Faculty/Staff course fee option when adding a class to your cart. For assistance, cancel your registration and contact the office at pro-work-center@apsu.edu or call 931-221-7816.

Course Policies

Cancellations and Course Changes

APSU reserves the right to cancel Professional and Workforce Development classes. Students will be informed of cancellations via email and phone, so ensure your registration includes a valid email and a phone number for messages. In case of cancellation, students can opt for a full refund or apply their payment to another course, which must meet within the current catalog timeframe. For refunds, credit or debit card payments will be refunded to the original card, while check, money order, or cash payments will be refunded by check.

APSU can change courses, including room locations, instructors, dates, and times. Students will receive email notifications about any changes that may affect their attendance.

Refund Policy

If the Center cancels a course, students get a full refund or a transfer* to a future course. Students may also request a refund or transfer via phone, fax, mail, or in person, with approved refunds processed within 15 business days. Refund eligibility depends on when the request is submitted:

Exceptions

Please note that Online Career Training Programs offered through ed2go are not eligible for refunds at any time. Assistance will be provided to help students address any challenges they encounter so they can successfully continue with the program.

Conference vendors and sponsors should refer to their application/Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for specific refund information.

Additional Offers

Packaged Deals and Special Offers

When students purchase a packaged deal or special offer, such as "buy one, get one," they receive a reduced rate for enrolling in multiple courses simultaneously. If the Center cancels one or more of these courses, the cost will be recalculated based on the remaining courses, and a refund or transfer* will be issued. However, if a student cancels their participation in one or more courses, they forfeit the reduced rate. Any refund or credit towards a transfer* (if eligible, based on the refund policy) will be calculated by subtracting the full price of attended or planned courses from the amount paid.

Administrative Details

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Points (PDPs)

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) measure participation in non-credit classes. A CEU corresponds to ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience with responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. For Tennessee Department of Education teacher re-certification, Professional Development Points (PDPs) are defined as 1 PDP per clock hour (e.g., a three CEU course equates to 30 PDPs).

Refund Methods

Refunds will be processed using the original payment method. Credit or debit card payments will be refunded to that card, while check, money order, or cash payments will be refunded by check. Funds will be held for no more than one year and may be applied to fees for other Continuing Education courses. Unused funds will be forfeited after one year.

Holidays

Professional and Workforce Development courses follow the Human Resources holiday schedule. No classes will be held on these dates.

Inclement Weather

The Professional and Workforce Development Center follows Austin Peay State University's inclement weather policy. If the APSU main campus is affected, classes are canceled or delayed. Closing information is online at www.apsu.edu or by calling (931) 221-7816. Classes will be rescheduled for any sessions missed due to inclement weather.

Logistics and Accessibility

Parking

Students can park in the red and green lots on campus. For classes during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), students will be issued a parking pass, valid for their class duration, allowing parking in these lots. Students attending classes after 4:30 p.m. or on weekends do not need a pass but are still required to park in the red or green lots. Refer to the campus parking map for lot locations. Parking in handicapped spaces requires a permit, and no parking is allowed in residents-only areas.

Access for People with Disabilities

The Professional and Workforce Development Center is committed to providing accessible learning environments for all students. If you have special needs regarding classroom or course accessibility, contact the Center at (931) 221-7816 or pro-work-center@apsu.edu. We will accommodate your requirements.
