Dr. Allie Johnston joined the Department of Languages and Literature in 2021 as an assistant professor and Writing Center Director.
 
She earned her Doctorate of English, specializing in Rhetoric, Writing, and Linguistics, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her primary research focuses on the implementation of multimodality in first-year writing curriculum and how engaging in multimodal assignments provides avenues to incorporate more student voices and experiences.
 
She first discovered writing centers as an undergraduate student and has worked in three previous writing centers before joining Austin Peay.
 
She remains involved in the Southeastern Writing Center Association, International Writing Center Association, Conference on College Composition and Communication, National Council for Teachers of English, and the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum.
