Our programs prepare people in the region for employment opportunities with industrial employers. Likewise, we serve these employers both by preparing graduates for initial employment and by offering educational opportunities for current employees needed for advancement.

Advancing Knowledge Through Hands-on Technical Education

The Engineering Technology Department at Austin Peay State University (APSU) is dedicated to providing students with a dynamic education that merges technological expertise with a liberal arts foundation. At APSU, students are equipped with essential skills in communication, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making, preparing them for successful careers in engineering technology. Choosing APSU for your degree means benefiting from a supportive faculty, modern facilities, and a curriculum designed to meet the demands of today’s ever-evolving technical industries.

Learning Environment

Our courses are available at the APSU Clarksville (downtown) campus and the Austin Peay Center on Ft. Campbell Army Base. We offer daytime and evening classes to accommodate our diverse student body, including working students. We strongly encourage students to pursue internships or industry positions to gain valuable practical experience during their studies, fostering a seamless transition into the workforce.

Accreditation

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our programs’ accreditations. Three concentrations within our Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering Technology—Electrical, Manufacturing, and Mechanical—are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET (http://www.abet.org). This accreditation ensures that our programs meet the high standards to prepare students for professional practice.
