A Clarksville native, the only thing that initially drew Christopher Trice to Austin Peay was its proximity to home, but after one tour of campus, he knew that he wouldn’t have to leave his friends and family behind to find the perfect fit for him.
“I didn’t realize how friendly everyone was here at Austin Peay and how much of a ‘traditional’ college feel there was until I visited the campus and saw everything for myself,” Trice said. “Unlike a really big university where you can just be one of a number of students, my classes at Austin Peay have 25-30 people, so I get to know my classmates and professors and that wasn’t going to be the case at other universities I looked at.”
Trice aspires to one day follow in his father and uncle’s footsteps as a minister, and is involved on campus as a member of the Baptist Christian Ministry at Austin Peay, serving the campus community through the student organization’s numerous outreach and worship programs.

A social work major, Trice said that BCM and the University’s Department of Social Work have shown him the best ways he can use his gifts to help his campus and local communities.
“I’m passionate about helping people and getting to know them as individuals, so I decided to major in social work and I immediately knew I had made the right decision,” Trice said.
“I have a vision of one day branching out and having my own ministry, and Austin Peay is showing me ways to be a role model who helps people and puts them on the right path in life.”
