Health and Human Performance Major: Public Health Concentration

Offered on campus, the public health concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for entry level public health or health education specialist positions in hospitals, clinics, schools, businesses, government, and non-profits.  Students will engage in various experiential learning opportunities where they will apply what they are learning in class during community and campus events. At the end of the program, students will be able to apply for and complete a semester-long internship as part of the program, and they will be encouraged to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) exam to expand their public health credentials.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the health education field is expected to grow 17% from 2020-2030.

To earn a degree in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Public Health, the student must earn 120 total hours. The curriculum requires the students to take UNIV 1000 (1 hour), 41 general education hours, 43 hours in the major, and 35 elective hours.
