What does it mean to
Be Fit. Be Well. Be a Gov.?

BE Connected!

APSU is a big place! APSU employs over 1,500 wonderful and interesting people! It is our hope that by your participation, not only will your overall wellness improve but you will also make new friends and expand everyone’s support structure.

BE Engaged!

There are many ways to improve total wellness and there is much more to life balance than what APSU can support, but let us do what we can! Physical, emotional, intellectual, and social wellness are just a few of the areas that we will engage our APSU community.

BE Physically Well!

Who likes to exercise? Yeah, not that many people, but it is actually more fun if we get move’n together! Of course, the Foy Fitness Center is a great place to start. The Foy has a ton of resources – workout machines, certificate exercise trainers, basketball-racket ball-tennis courts and a swimming pool! Also, the Foy provides many different excursions – hiking, rock climbing and kayaking.

APSU’s campus is so beautiful. Did you know that walking the campus for about 20 to 30 minutes tends to be about a mile? Just walking at least 30 minutes a day can burn about 150 calories and can eventually help lower your blood pressure and reduce body swelling.

The physically well person gets an adequate amount of sleep, eats a balanced and nutritious diet, engages in exercise for 150 minutes per week, attends regular medical check-ups, and makes choices to avoid harmful habits and practice actions that support your physical health and safety.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that, “Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health.” And, the CDC lists a number of important benefits for staying physically active. Some of these include: reduced risk of some cancers, reduced risk of diabetes, and extended lifespan! For more information, please visit the CDC’s website for Physical Activity!

BE Emotionally, Intellectually and Socially Well!

Humans are social creatures. Sure, maybe you are an introvert, but you probably like a stimulating conversation about movies, books, places, or food! Who doesn’t?! One thing we all know, COVID has made us lose some of our connectiveness and increased loneliness. The healthcare community has long told us that positive relationships improve health. The CDC has a nice collection of emotional wellbeing health impacts to inspire your participation in APSU’s Employee Experience!

BE Involved!

APSU’s Human Resources, in collaboration with all areas of APSU, will be inviting your participation is a collection of activities to help bring you daily happiness. So, please complete the following survey so we better know what is exciting to you!

APSU is just a collection of buildings and sidewalks without you. You are what makes APSU so wonderful to our students and our community. So, lets bring smiles across campus as we all work, play and laugh together as Governors!
