Department of Languages and Literature: Special Events

As a large, liberal arts department, we are proud to interact and host events for the university and the community. We hope to inform and entertain our guests.

Each year, we host the Asanbe Diversity Symposium in honor of Joseph Asanbe; he was a longtime chair for the diversity committee, and we strive to honor him each year with featured speakers that enlighten attendees and bring awareness. Diversity is important everywhere, but the honoring and recognition of diversity is especially important in today's culture.

We also host a myriad of writers from time to time, including the Acuff Chair of Excellence, who is chosen each year to be the focus of an upper-level diversity course. We love having writers of all kinds on campus and our guests enjoy the reception from students, faculty, and community members alike.

Please check back on this page and join us when we host our special events.
