Happening today: COVID-19 Candlelight Memorial on campus

The year 2020 brought about many drastic changes, including the transition to fully online classes at Austin Peay. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic took more than 560,000 Americans, 223 of those coming from Montgomery County. APSU’s Student Government Association will host a Candlelight Memorial at 7 p.m. today. The event will be held to remember the events of the last year and honor those who lost their lives during this time. The memorial will be held in the AP bowl, next to the Morgan University Center’s outdoor plaza. There will be many speakers who will attend the memorial including APSU President, Michael Licari; Dr. Perry Scanlan, professor of Allied Health Services; Jane Semler, professor of Medical Laboratory Science; and Lynn Fisher, director of emergency management at APSU. All four speakers will discuss their outlook on the pandemic and how we will move forward. Food from Chick-fil-A and candles will be distributed at the event.
