APSU alumni create Christopher C. Wyatt and Jonathan W. Wyatt Endowment to benefit APSU students

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – William (Bill) H. Wyatt (’70) and Victoria (Vicki) Brinkley Wyatt (’70) recently made a contribution to the Austin Peay State University Foundation to establish the Christopher C. Wyatt and Jonathan W. Wyatt Endowment to benefit APSU students.

Bill and Vicki graduated from APSU in 1970. Their sons, Christopher and Jonathan, were both alumni of the University as well. The family has long supported Austin Peay. Bill is a past president of the APSU National Alumni Association and is currently a member of the APSU Foundation. He has been in the banking business since 1975 and currently serves as executive vice president of F&M Bank in Clarksville. He is also a real estate investor and developer. Vicki is in real estate sales and was previously a teacher for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Christopher and Jonathan were both supporters of Austin Peay beginning at an early age through sports and other activities at the University.

The scholarship is intended to assist upperclassmen who require additional financial aid to complete their degrees. To be eligible, students must be juniors or seniors enrolled full-time at APSU with a 2.75 GPA. The award is not restricted to a specific field of study, though preference will be given to agriculture and business majors. To renew this scholarship, recipients must reapply each year.

“Vicki and I are pleased to establish the Christopher C. Wyatt and Jonathan W. Wyatt Endowed Scholarship,” Bill Wyatt said. “We want to do this in honor of Christopher and in memory of Jonathan, who passed away in 2004 from a heart related disease. We want to give back to the university that meant so much to us and to them during their college experience. We hope to help the students and the university that has been a big part of the Wyatt family, and to honor and remember our sons in a meaningful and lasting way.”

Endowments are permanently restricted funds managed by the Austin Peay State University Foundation. The amount of each scholarship award may vary and will be determined based upon the value of the endowment and the Foundation spending plan.
