|Smoking, Vaping, and Tobacco Usage Policy
It is the policy of Austin Peay State University to promote a healthy, safe environment that encourages persons to be tobacco free in University facilities, grounds and state-owned vehicles. APSU faculty, staff and students, by vote of each body, acknowledge that long-term health hazards may accrue to people subjected to smoke, vapor, and tobacco products, both from smoking/vaping and from second-hand smoke/vapor.
The purpose of this policy is to prohibit smoking, vaping, and tobacco usage, including but not limited to cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco and dip, smokeless tobacco product or any product that allows users to inhale and exhale vapor of any kind in all University buildings, grounds, personal vehicles, and state-controlled or state-owned vehicles unless exceptions are stated in this policy. This policy is effective 24 hours a day, year round.
Employee violations of this policy should be reported to the appropriate supervisor. Student violations of this policy should be reported to the Office of Student Affairs. Enforcement of this policy will be provided primarily by the campus community. There shall be no reprisals against anyone reporting violations of this policy.
Smoking, vaping, and tobacco product usage shall be permitted in area lots designated by the campus smoking and tobacco usage map.
The President may designate a place where smoking, vaping, and tobacco usage is permitted on property owned or controlled by the University.
