African American Graduate Recognition Ceremony
The purpose of our African American Graduate Recognition Ceremony is to celebrate the successful graduation of our African American students. Although this ceremony includes programmatic activities rooted in African American culture, all eligible APSU students who have registered for graduation through the Office of the Registrar, completing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degrees are encouraged to participate.
We invite all APSU Alumni, families of the graduates, as well as the campus community to attend the ceremony.
During the ceremony, we provide Kente stoles for each graduate who participates in the program, a formal induction into the Alumni Association, as well as a reception for the graduates and their families.
This ceremony is held twice a year on the eve of the University’s official Commencement.
*****Note students who are scheduled to graduate
in the summer, may participate in the spring ceremony
if they have 9 hours or less to complete their degree.
This is also by the approval of the Director.*****
