Student Trustee Application

Applications will be accepted each fall semester from qualified student applicants to serve on this important board that provides guidance and oversight for Austin Peay. Each spring, one Austin Peay State University student will be selected to serve as the student member of the University’s Board of Trustees. 


Eligibility

Students eligible to apply for this one-year appointment must:

Complete application packets will be accepted during the Fall semester for the following academic year, via email to: studentaffairs@apsu.edu or by personal delivery to the Office of Student Affairs, Morgan University Center Room 206. Complete applications must be submitted no later than November 8, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. for consideration.

The Office of Student Affairs will confirm the GPA and judicial record of applicants and forward the applications to a screening committee of three students and two university administrators.

The screening committee will conduct interviews of select students. Upon completion of the interviews, the screening committee will identify students to be forwarded to the University President for review. The president will review the applications and forward a recommendation to the Board of Trustees with comments as appropriate. The APSU Board of Trustees will select the student trustee at their April meeting; the selected student trustee will serve for the following academic year, beginning with the June  Board of Trustees meeting.

Applicant Information

Include the Organization Name, Position Title or Type of Involvement, and Dates of Service

On a separate page, answer the following questions. Please limit your responses to one page per question.

      1. Why are you interested in applying for the Student Trustee position?

      2. How has your college/university experience prepared you for this type of position?

Military Service (if applicable)

I certify that my answers are true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that my application will be shared with a selection committee comprised of APSU students and university employees, the University president, and the APSU Board of Trustees and grant permission for this information to be shared.

 

I understand that my GPA and judicial standing will be confirmed and that providing false or misleading information in my application or interview may result in me being disqualified for consideration or release from an appointment as Student Trustee.

Checklist

A complete application packet will include:

_____  At least one letter of recommendation from a full-time APSU faculty or staff (up to three may be submitted)
