Office of Assessment
The Office of Assessment in the Eriksson College of Education leads the college's assessment and accreditation efforts. The Eriksson College of Education must meet the standards and requirements set forth by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the Tennessee State Board of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
The Austin Peay State University Eriksson College of Education is accredited by the
Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), a national organization
that sets standards and procedures for accrediting teacher preparation programs.
CAEP's mission is to ensure quality and continuous improvement in the effectiveness
of preparation programs to strengthen student learning in grades PreK - 12. The accreditation
process provides professional judgment of the quality of teacher education programs
and encourages continuous improvement.
The Eriksson College of Education meets rigorous standards of excellence developed
by professional educators to provide quality professional education programs that
foster competent practice by our graduates.
By the Numbers
According to information in the 2024 Higher Ed By the Numbers report assembled by Tennessee SCORE, Austin Peay State University as whole (as of Fall 2022):
- Enrolled the third highest percentage of Pell-eligible students across all Tennessee public four-year institutions (64.2 percent);
- Had the highest growth in the first-to-second-year retention rate of Black students of any Tennessee public four-year institution (1.5 points);
- Enrolled the highest percentages of Hispanic students and adult students of any Tennessee public four-year institution (10.1 percent, 24.6 percent).

Student Learning and Licensure (SLL) Resources
Watermark Student Learning & Licensure is a software program designed to help institutions
assess student learning and track progress towards teacher licensure. It offers features
like rubrics to measure learning outcomes, ePortfolios to showcase student work and
integrations with D2L. In addition, this system allows the Office of Teacher Education
& Partnerships to track field experiences and student teaching placements.
