Dr. Timothy F. Winters |
Dr. Winters earned his B.A. in Greek with Honors at the University of Arizona, and
his M.A. and Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Oh. He spent two years
living in Greece where he studied archeology and history at The American School of
Classical Studies at Athens. Dr. Winters has been teaching Greek, Latin, ancient civilization,
and archeology for over thirty years. He has been the recipient of the Society for
Classical Studies National College Teacher of the Year Award, the Classical Assn.
of the Middle West and South (CAMWS) College Teacher of the Year Award, the Socrates
Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching at APSU, and the Distinguished Professor
Award also at APSU. His research interests are in Greek epigraphy, Greek pedagogy,
and Greek archeology. Dr. Winters joined the faculty of Austin Peay in 1997.
Dr. Winters assumed the position of Executive Director of the Honors Program and the President’s Emerging Leaders Program in July of 2018. He also coordinates national scholarships such as the Fulbright Program and the Goldwater Scholarship. His favorite part of the position is having the joy of working with some of the best, brightest, and most quick-witted students on campus.

Dr. Tracy Nichols |
Dr. Nichols serves as the inaugural Assistant Director for the Honors and President’s
Emerging Leaders programs. She earned her B.A. in Communication Arts with an emphasis
in theatre and a minor in creative writing as well as a M.A. with honors in Speech
and Theatre from Austin Peay. Her doctoral degree is in Leadership and Professional
Practices from Trevecca Nazarene University. Dr. Nichols is an Associate Professor
in the Department of Communication where she has taught full time since 2007. She
worked as a Client Services Director for a Fortune 500 company and as a professional
regional actor/director prior to returning to Austin Peay.
Dr. Nichols thrives on providing opportunities for students to learn in and outside of the classroom. An advocate for high impact practices, she revitalized the honors public speaking course to include a designated service learning component, created an honors class focusing on community communication with servant leadership, and she teaches in the President’s Emerging Leaders Program. Dr. Nichols served as the president of The National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She won TN Communication Association state awards for service, undergraduate/graduate student mentorship, and the educator of the year award. Determined, engaged, and excited students in the programs as well as a dedicated and caring leadership team are a few of her favorite aspects of her role.

Delaney Atkins |
Ms. Delaney Atkins is the Academic Associate to the Executive Director for the Honors
Program and President's Emerging Leaders Program. She graduated from Austin Peay State
University with her Masters of Arts in English in 2020 and with her Bachelors of Science
in English with a minor in Professional Writing in 2018. She is also an instructor
for the Honors Program, the President's Emerging Leaders Program, and PASS 0900.
In her off time, Delaney spends her time writing poetry, reading, studying Victorian
and Romantic literature, and listening to music.
