The Department of Music at Austin Peay offers Master of Music studies with the following concentrations and specializations.

Full-time, part-time and summer study options are available.

A Master of Music degree offers an opportunity to continue or pursue a career in fields such as teaching, conducting, performance, and doctoral studies, along with a variety of opportunities within the music and entertainment industry.  

The Music program admits for all terms through the APSU Clarksville Campus.

Admission Requirements

The Music program admits for fall and spring semesters through the APSU main campus. Concentrations are available  in Music Education and Performance. Students who choose the Performance concentration can choose from  specializations in Choral Conducting, Instrumental Conducting, or Vocal or Instrumental Performance. All admission decisions are made by the Music department. To be admitted, applicants should meet the following admission requirements:

 *Applicants for the music education program may audition in their primary performing area or submit a video recording of their teaching.

International Admission Requirements

To view graduate programs available to international students, refer to the Graduate Programs for International Students page on the College of Graduate Studies website. Dependent upon program and/or visa status, additional  graduate admission requirements must be met. Please refer to the Admission Requirements for International Students page on our website for detailed information and forms that may be required. All admission documents must be received and processed before selection committee review.

Admission Status

Regular Admission will be granted to applicants who have met all entrance requirements. To be granted conditional admission, unofficial transcripts and entrance exam scores may be submitted until the official documents are received by Graduate Admissions. If official documents are not received as prescribed in the current Graduate Bulletin all classes will be dropped. Denied admission status will be granted to applicants who do not meet the regular or conditional criteria for admission to the program.
