Office of Emergency Management
The mission of the Austin Peay State University office of emergency management is to bring focus to planning, preparing, and responding to threats and hazards to promote a prepared and resilient Austin Peay community. We take the “whole community” approach which embraces all access and functional needs of the APSU community. We think about and prepare for all hazards that might affect the APSU Clarksville campus; whether it is a tornado, watermain break, sinkhole or act of violence.
We work closely with all APSU departments and senior leadership to maintain a safe and protected community. We also recognize that all members of the campus community share the responsibility of maintaining a prepared campus. In support of that goal, we offer Govs PEAYpare workshops, CPR classes, and Continuity of Operations Planning to build and maintain a ready and resilient campus.

The Austin Peay State University Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is designed to provide basic information so that the reader can be better prepared in the event of an emergency or critical incident. The EAP is based upon the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators’ (IACLEA) model, which is rooted in the National Incident Management System(NIMS). The EAP is not designed to give definitive answers for every type of emergency. Each incident is unique and constantly evolving. Only those involved in the incident can make decisions that they believe are correct to ensure their own safety. The EAP provides resource material so that informed decisions can be made.
