Message to the Peayple
Colleagues and Peers,
We join together in announcing a really cool initiative – Peayple’s Dialogue. A campus-wide initiative to promote civic engagement, understanding, and a shared commitment to contribute meaningfully to the campus community and beyond.
We all have differences in thought, expression, perspective, inquiry, and how we engage society; but how we engage dialogue and discourse, even in difference, matters as a community.
As Student Government President, I came to Austin Peay locally being born and raised in rural Palmyra, Tennessee. My experiences growing up shape the person I am today and my perspectives of how I view the world and any impact I may contribute.
As Vice President for Student Affairs, I came to Austin Peay from Knoxville, Tennessee but was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. My experiences, like Logan, have influenced who I am today and contributed to my viewpoints of the world and my impact.
Even in our difference of early beginnings and present being, we find commonality in the courage and inspiration of an Austin Peay community where diverse perspectives are shared and respected, free expression and civil dialogue is promoted, and everyone is committed to a community that fosters success.
So, we’ve come together to invite you in joining the Peayple’s Dialogue – a series of conversations and activities to engage students, faculty, and staff in meaningful interactions that highlight the importance of civil dialogue – in commonality and in difference.
Join the first of many conversations through the year – “Common Ground: Free Expression and Bridging Differences” to be held on October 2 at 3:00pm.
Additionally, we encourage you to visit the Peayple’s Dialogue webpage that features topics, campus resources, and much more including the Peayple’s Agreement. There will be many opportunities to continue the conversation and you may add a program to the continued conversations listing.
Austin Peay State University is a special place. A place of growth and experiences, laughter and joy, community and civility, and a place committed to success. Join us for the Peayple’s Dialogue.
Let’s Go Peay!
