Pre-departure Study Abroad Orientation
The Pre-departure Study Abroad Orientation is mandatory for participants of both APSU (short and long-term) and consortiums programs (CCSA, ISEP, ISA, CISabroad, TEAN, and Magellan).
During the orientation we will cover many topics that include but are not limited to:
-
Safety. For example, we emphasize the buddy system, which means that students are not allowed under any circumstances to go anywhere by themselves. They must always be with at least one other student. We also talk about emergency procedures and the steps students should take in case they get lost.
- Code of Conduct. Even though students will not be on campus, they are required to still follow the APSU code of conduct. The Dean of Student Affairs usually attends this orientation and makes sure students understand the consequences of violating the APSU code of conduct.
-
Health. We provide tips and suggestions for how to remain safe and healthy throughout the study abroad experience. For example, tips of how to deal with jet lag and hydration.
- Do you have an allergy that is important for someone to know in an emergency? Maybe
consider carrying an allergen card! You can check out some options here!
