Gallery Director
Dickins' role as a curator in a university setting is to provide diverse programming
that is visually appealing, physically engaging and intellectually challenging to
the university and surrounding communities. "As a gallery director, it is my privilege
to provide a safe space for artists to experiment with their craft, engage with the
public, and participate in a dialogue on issues of social, cultural and political
identity that is welcoming and accessible to the public."
Dickins earned an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and a BFA from
Georgia Southern University. He also completed the International Curatorial Program,
NODE Center for Curatorial Studies, based in Berlin, Germany. He has attended, chaired,
and presented on various conference panels at CAA, SECAC, and F.A.T.E.. He is a member
of AAMG, AAM, AAMC and has served as juror for apexart NYC and other institutions.
His work has been exhibited throughout the Southeastern U.S. as well as Philadelphia,
Pittsburgh, Denver, Houston, San Diego, Portland; Augusta, Maine, Istanbul and Berlin.
He has twice been a featured artist at {Re}Happening at Black Mountain College, and
has received commissions from the Pittsburgh Playhouse and the Houston Metropolitan
Dance Company for original sound score and projection design.

Gallery Assistants
Former Gallery Assistants
When not working directly with The New Gallery on exhibition installation, the gallery
assistants work primarily with the University Art Collection This work includes the cataloging, photographing, handling, restoring, researching,
exhibiting and care of the 3500+ piece art collection of Austin Peay State University.
The online database was created and implimented by Sara Roach '24.
Gallery Assistants are scholarship recipients that are interested in applying their
work hours to learn valuable museum-management skills in an active, hands-on environment.
