Yun Shin has earned several art degrees, including an M.F.A. in studio arts from the University of Texas at Austin, a B.F.A. in craft and material studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.F.A. in industrial design from Cho Sun University in South Korea. 

Shin is a recipient of a 2017 Artist Fellowship from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. She has had several solo exhibitions, including: “Patten Study,” in Susan O. Ahem Gallery, Fond Du Lac, WI; “Filtering” in the A.I.R. gallery, Brooklyn NY; “Iowa Artists 2017: Yun Shin” in the Blank One gallery at the Des Moines Art Center, Iowa; and “Embedded” in Whittier College Greenleaf Gallery, Whittier, CA. She was one of four artists juried into a group exhibition at Pen and Brush gallery, Manhattan NY, and in 2024, she will have a solo exhibition, “Excess” at the Fred Simon Gallery, Omaha, NE.
