Dr. Mills joined the faculty at Austin Peay State University in 2011. He is an Associate Professor in Agriculture (Animal Science). He received his B.S. degree from Union College (KY) in biology. After working in industry for several years, he returned to graduate school at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) where he earned his M.S. degree in ruminant nutrition. He completed his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University (Stillwater) where his dissertation research was conducted on the influences of animal health on gene expression in various tissues in beef cattle.
Dr. Mills has a strong commitment to teaching and student mentoring. He received the Socrates Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2016. He also formed and mentors the APSU Beef Cattle Show Team who has earned numerous championship titles at local, state, and national level competitions.
