Manufacturing Technology Institute (MTI) Summer Camp

The Manufacturing Technology Institute (MTI) summer camp at Austin Peay State University (APSU) provides a unique opportunity for sophomore and junior high school students to gain Dual Enrollment CTE credit while also building skills that leading industry employers are looking for in tomorrow’s work force. Selected students will be fully immersed in the college campus experience during the three week summer camp. They will reside in college dormitories, eat in the University’s dining hall, and have access to the Foy Fitness Center and other recreational activities that college students enjoy. 

Each morning, students will engage in hands-on learning opportunities with Austin Peay State University Manufacturing Technology instructors. In the afternoon, they will have the opportunity to develop job-related skills by networking with a variety of experts in communication, leadership, and workforce development. Students will be exposed to a "one-stop shop" experience that allows them to explore different CTE career paths while also gaining real-world skills that are beneficial for any professional path. Funding for the MTI summer camp is provided by the 2019-2020 GIVE grant put forth by Governor Lee, and has a funded life-span of three years.  This program provides:

• Three weeks training in industrial manufacturing by licensed professional faculty of APSU
• Reside on APSU’s campus (internet, lodging and meals are included at no charge)
• Earn a credential in industrial manufacturing from APSU
• Earn three credits of dual enrollment college credit in Engineering Technology*
• Visit local industrial manufacturing partners to learn about a satisfying career in manufacturing
• Weekend excursions and afternoon entertainment included
• Seats are limited to those students who qualify and on first come basis
