Van Reservation
Parking & Transportation has two vans that can be checked out to university departments for use on university business. Vans can be reserved by completing a form located at https://forms.office.com/r/hLWqabvsEg. You will receive a confirmation email from Parking & Transportation detailing the reservation. The vans that can be checked out are:
- PTV1 - 15 passenger van (including driver) (Van currently offline)
- PTV2 - 11 passenger van (including driver) with a wheelchair lift
NOTE: At this time, the vans cannot be taken out of state due to insurance reasons.
All potential drivers may be required to pass a motor vehicle records check (MVR) prior to being allowed to operate the van. The person using the van will need to pick up and drop off from Shasteen and the vehicle will need to be parked inside the fenced Physical Plant lot. All paperwork must be fully completed and turned in when the van is returned. Renters are responsible to ensure the fuel tank is full when returned, the vehicle is clean, and all completed paperwork is returned. Departments are responsible for paying for gas. If the gas is charged to Parking & Transportation through the Physical Plant gas pumps, the department will be inter-accounted for that and any fees associated with failure to follow procedures.
Before operating the van, please review the driver controls and safety features. To ensure passenger safety, conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle, checking:
- Tire pressure
- Oil level
- Fuel level
- Body damage
- Interior condition (ensure no loose items in the cabin)
Given the van’s high roof, it is more top-heavy and susceptible to wind effects compared to standard vehicles. Its weight also increases stopping distance. Therefore:
- Allow additional stopping distance and maintain a safe following distance
- Be aware of height clearances in parking structures and low bridges. The height of the vehicle is 9.2 feet.
- Exercise caution when turning or changing lanes due to the van’s size
- Regularly check mirrors and blind spots
- Use the rear camera and mirrors when reversing
If using a van with a wheelchair lift, do not operate the lift without proper training from the Parking & Transportation staff.
Report any operational issues to the Parking & Transportation Office immediately.
