Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education Position
The Department of Psychological Science and Counseling at Austin Peay State University seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Counselor Education beginning August 2017. A doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program or a doctorate in Counseling Psychology with a minimum of one year experience teaching in a CACREP accredited counseling program prior to 2013 is required (ABD with all requirements for degree completed prior to the time of hire will also be considered).
Responsibilities include teaching graduate counseling core courses and supervising counseling graduate student interns, with the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in psychology. Experience with online and other technology-assisted instruction and familiarity with CACREP accreditation standards are desirable. University and community service, and scholarly and creative activity are also expected.
In addition to the above stated requirements, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
- A minimum of two years of clinical experience in mental health settings.
- Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor in Tennessee.
- Experience with advising, practicum, internship & clinical supervision.
- Background or expertise in one or more of the following areas: diversity issues in counseling, psychological assessment, and ethical, legal & professional issues in counseling.
Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to teach courses in diversity issues in counseling, psychological assessment, and ethical, legal & professional issues in counseling.
The Counseling Program has a counseling lab with rooms for individual and group counseling practice suites and state-of-the-art digital recording and monitoring equipment.
