About Us
Allie Johnston
Writing Center Director
Dr. Johnston joined APSU in the Fall of 2021. She first learned of writing centers as a college freshman and has been able to work in a total of four centers (Lipscomb University, the University of Alabama, the University of Tennessee, and now APSU)! Dr. Johnston loves being outside (preferably by a body of water), going to yoga classes, and reading. She looks forward to seeing you in the writing center!

Assistant Director
Hey y’all, my name is Kayah! I am pursuing a Master’s degree in English Creative Writing as the first step to becoming a creative writing professor. I like reading contemporary fiction, watching video essays, making fiber arts projects, gaming, and writing poetry! My goal is to help students leave the center feeling more confident in their writing journey, even if it’s only by a little bit. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Hello! My name is Alina, and I am a current Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s in Agriculture: Sustainable Development. I’ve moved around a lot but have lived in Clarksville since 2020, and in my free time I enjoy doing art, creative writing, and hanging out with friends. Writing can always be improved, so never feel nervous or embarrassed to make an appointment! The Writing Centre is here for every step of the process, and I always look forward to helping in any way I can.

Hi, my name is Rylie. I am a senior majoring in English and minoring in professional education; therefore, I am primarily familiar with MLA but have worked in APA as well. I hope to be an editor and high school English teacher after I graduate. I love reading, cooking, writing, and hanging out with my XA small group. I also love adventuring outdoors and traveling. I am heavily involved on campus, so if you ever see me, make sure to say hey.

Peer Writing Tutor
Hi! My name is Winter, and I use he/him and she/her pronouns. I have been a tutor at the APSU Writing Center since my Freshman year; I am currently a Junior. I come from a military background that has moved me around from Ohio to Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Hawai'i, and now, Tennessee. I am an RA, a scholarship worker for Zone 3 Journal/Press, and a member of the Alpha line of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. My goal is to be an author of professional and creative works and to be a professor. I look forward to getting to know everyone through their writing and having a good time collaborating with students to brainstorm, improve, or reconceptualize any work that they bring in!

Hi! My name is Sibyl, and I am a senior majoring in English Education. I love tutoring because there is no better feeling than learning new skills, and I love being able to help people. In my free time, I teach color guard to a local high school and Austin Peay's Governor's Own Marching Band. I also adore reading and writing, and my favorite book is Emma by Jane Austen!

Hey there! My name is Cameron (they/them) and I’m a junior majoring in English and minoring in Classical Languages. A fun fact about me is that I’ve written three full-length novels since I was 14! I also work as a professional editor in my spare time. When I’m not studying, writing, or working, I love watching videos on videogame lore and reading; I’m currently reading “Villianess: Bloodfeast” by Jo Moonless, “Hypatia of Alexandria” by Marie Dzielska, and “The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle” by Rick Riordan!

There is so much to learn about yourself while in a tutor session. In my free time, I like to read manga, play video games, or make music. My goal at the end of a tutor session is to make sure you have all the resources you’ll need to succeed.

Hello! My name is Abigail Hall, and I am a senior majoring in English with a minor in educationand a concentration in English education. I have worked as a front desk attendant at the APSU Writing Center since my first year on campus in 2022. Over this time, I have gained an appreciation for helping students find the right tutor or materials for their assignments! In the future. In my free time, you can catch me hanging out with my cat named Shamrock, reading anything historical fiction, or obsessively watching Gilmore Girls!

Hey y'all! I'm Grace, and I happily work at the front desk of the APSU Writing Center. I have lived here in Clarksville since I was four years old and consider it my home most days. I love reading, music, God, and people. I am a proud Austin Peay Marching Band and Honors Program member. If you ever need help, I am happy to help y'all with whatever you need. I love working at the writing center because I see students' relief when they finally get help understanding a topic. This semester, I am most looking forward to my encounters with so many people as a part of my job.

In my free time, I enjoy baking, painting, writing, reading, solving puzzles, and rewatching episodes of Downton Abbey!
