About Us
Allie Johnston
Writing Center Director
Dr. Johnston joined APSU in the Fall of 2021. She first learned of writing centers as a college freshman and has been able to work in a total of four centers (Lipscomb University, the University of Alabama, the University of Tennessee, and now APSU)! Dr. Johnston loves being outside (preferably by a body of water), going to yoga classes, and reading. She looks forward to seeing you in the writing center!

Assistant Director (Grad Student)
Hey, my name is Darelys. I am a graduate assistant director of the writing center while I purse my MA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I am a writer, reader, baker, artist, gamer, and movie watcher. I love spending time with my family, especially my older sister. I have been in the writing center for three semesters, and I enjoy it every time. The people that work here are wonderful and helpful. Meanwhile, I love knowing that I had made an impact for the students who make an appointment with me, and I want to continue that this semester. I specialize in MLA and APA but know a lot about Chicago too. I cannot wait to work with you today!

Assistant Director (Grad Student)
Hey y’all, my name is Kayah! I am pursuing a Master’s degree in English Creative Writing as the first step to becoming a creative writing professor. I like reading contemporary fiction, watching video essays, making fiber arts projects, gaming, and writing poetry! My goal is to help students leave the center feeling more confident in their writing journey, even if it’s only by a little bit. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Hi, fellow writers! My name is Gaybreala. I am a 28-year-old boy mommy to two cute little boys and a dog! I am currently getting my master's degree in English Creative writing! I teach high school English at Kenwood High School! I enjoy spending time with my kids, my boyfriend, and my dog. If I'm not with them, you can find me at the park (when it's warm and pretty) reading a book or walking the trail. I love new adventures! So, I'm always trying to find places to hike or explore. I'm originally from Johnson City, TN (East TN), so a good hike to a waterfall is fun to me! I also love library trips; my oldest and I go every Saturday for a mommy/son date. Super excited to be a part of the writing center team!

I have been a student at Austin Peay since 2018 and am currently working on my Master’s Degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. My hobbies include reading, writing, spending time with friends and family, and going to the gym. I am familiar with MLA and have experience with APA formatting.

I began my journey at the APSU Writing Center in 2019 while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Administration with a minor in Event Planning. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, writing letters, and playing video games with my friends!

Hello! My name is Alina, and I am a current Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s in Agriculture: Sustainable Development. I’ve moved around a lot but have lived in Clarksville since 2020, and in my free time I enjoy doing art, creative writing, and hanging out with friends. Writing can always be improved, so never feel nervous or embarrassed to make an appointment! The Writing Centre is here for every step of the process, and I always look forward to helping in any way I can.

Hi! My name is Winter, and I use she/her and they/them pronouns. I have been a tutor at the APSU Writing Center since my Freshman year; I am a senior now! I come from a military background that has moved me around from Ohio to Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Hawai’i, and now, Tennessee. I am an RA, the Poetry Editor for Zone 3 Journal, and a member of the Alpha line of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., the first multicultural Greek organization at APSU. I hope to get an MFA in Creative Writing, then possibly a PhD, and teach Creative Writing courses at the university level while publishing my own creative and professional work. I look forward to getting to know students through their writing and having a good time collaborating with students to brainstorm, improve, or reconceptualize any work that they bring in!

Hey y'all! I'm Grace, and I happily work at the front desk of the APSU Writing Center. I have lived here in Clarksville since I was four years old and consider it my home most days. I love reading, music, God, and people. This is my final semester of College! I will graduate with a bachelor's degree in World Language, concentrating in Classical Cultures and Classical Languages. Basically, I am a nerd who enjoys learning Latin and ancient Greek. If you ever need help, I am happy to help y'all with whatever you need.
