How to Schedule an Appointment

The APSU Writing Center uses MyWCOnline to schedule all in-person, online video, and eTutoring (paper-submission) appointments. To learn how to use MyWCOnline, follow the instructions here.

Once you're on the schedule, simply select the day and time you'd like, and follow the steps to book your appointment for one of your courses.

Appointment Types

  • In-Person: Meet with a writing tutor in person at the Writing Center (2nd floor, Woodward Library) at the start of your session.
  • Online: At your scheduled time, click on your appointment on myWConline and select “Start or Join Online Consultation.” This option includes a live video call with your tutor, allowing for real-time discussion and feedback.
  • eTutoring (Paper-Submission): Schedule a time for a tutor to review your writing on myWConline. To use this option, please ensure your writing assignment is a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file and upload both your paper and the assignment sheet. No meeting is required. After the scheduled session, log back in, open your appointment, and check the "Attached Files" section for your tutor's written feedback.

What to Expect in a Session:.

At the APSU Writing Center, our goal is to empower you to improve your writing skills at any stage of your academic journey. Whether you’re meeting in person, online, or using eTutoring, our sessions focus on collaboration to help you grow as a writer. You can bring your work at any stage—whether you're brainstorming, drafting, or revising—but please note that we will not edit or "fix" your paper for you. Instead, we’ll assist you in exploring your ideas, strengthening your skills, and navigating the writing process.

During in-person or online sessions, your tutor will ask questions, offer suggestions, and help you think critically about your writing. For eTutoring (paper submission), you'll receive feedback on the specific areas you've requested, such as organization, clarity, or citation style. Tutors typically review 2-3 pages during a 30-minute session, so we recommend submitting sections of your work.

What to Bring to Your Session

  • Your Assignment Instructions: Bring the assignment sheet or prompt provided by your instructor.
  • Any Work You’ve Started: This could be notes, an outline, or even a rough draft—whatever stage you're at in your writing process.
  • Questions or Concerns: Come prepared with specific questions or areas of your writing where you'd like feedback or guidance.
  • A Respectful Attitude: Engaging respectfully with your tutor is key to a productive session. If you're not open to collaboration, you may be asked to reschedule.

It's important to bring or upload your assignment sheet so the tutor can provide the best feedback possible. For eTutoring and online appointments, if this information is missing, you may be asked to reschedule.
