Weather Related Closings and Information
As the winter season approaches, the Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin
Peay State University reminds students, faculty and staff that information about the
closing or late opening of the University will be provided as early as possible to
various broadcast media — to include television, radio and online — that service the
Clarksville area.
If possible, all television and radio stations on campus and in Clarksville, Nashville,
Hopkinsville, Ky., and other communities in the surrounding area will be notified
of APSU closings or delays in opening as soon as that decision is made.
However, students, faculty and staff are reminded that because most stations accept
information by computer only, often there is a delay between the time the information
is provided to broadcast media and when it airs. This may be due to a deluge of calls
to media from other schools and other organizations.
Occasionally, due to electrical outages, it may not be possible to receive closing
information from the media. That’s why APSU has other communication venues in place.
APSU’s website, http://www.apsu.edu, will announce University cancellations and closings, as will APSU’s text-messaging
service, AP Alert. To sign up for AP Alert, visit https://www.getrave.com/login/apsu. Additionally, if you have the Peay Mobile or New Gov mobile app, you will receive
push notifications about any weather-related announcements impacting APSU.
Plus, these announcements will be posted on the University’s various social media
venues:
