Internship Description

The intern will work on two specific technical deliverables while gaining exposure to Trane's operational culture:

  1. Gensuite Training Tracker Implementation: Implement Gensuite Training Tracker for Maintenance Department Required Compliance Training as a pilot roll-out for all of Trane Technologies.
  2. Training Plan Development: Develop Training Plans for each of three crafts, assigned during department on-boarding, which includes equipment-specific training assignments.
  3. Culture Assimilation: Participate in morning Mission Control project reviews, Injury Walk-Backs, Operations Managed-Daily-Improvement (MDI) meetings, problem-solving activities (9-step methods, "just-do-it"), and company-sponsored volunteer events and employee resource groups.

Workplace Culture

Workplace Environment: A dynamic mix of office work (workstation provided with the Maintenance leadership team) and factory floor experience (sheetmetal fabrication, brazing, heat exchange coil fabrication, HVAC system assembly and testing).

The factory is air-conditioned but relatively warm, and considerable walking may be required in the 1.2 million sq-ft facility. Typical working hours are 7:00am-3:00pm.

Byron Foster brings extensive experience as a Navy Veteran (Reactor Operator, Fast Attack Submarines) and holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Penn State University. His career includes leadership positions at General Electric's Locomotive Engine Manufacturing division, where he served as Production Supervisor, Quality Engineer, Site Quality Manager, Operations Leader for Engine Assembly, and Engine Center of Excellence Reliability Leader. Byron has supervised interns during his Operations Leader role, providing them with specific project deliverables while integrating them into general site operations, production meetings, improvement projects, safety engagement, and volunteer events.
